Going through my archives, I had forgotten I had taken this wonderful shot. Not only did this gorgeous afternoon sunlight, beaming through the bustling streets of Thamel just steal my heart, but on this walk back to the hotel, I remember reflecting on what an incredible day I had just experienced.
In the morning, we volunteered some time visiting a boarding school for at risk children, coincidentally called Rising Rays, where the classroom conditions were hard to take, but within it, the sweetest, smartest and most charming children I had ever met. And then, in the afternoon, a very exciting and productive meeting at the US Embassy, where we spoke with some of the most intelligent and influential pioneers of our generation, guiding us and helping to navigate how to create positive changes for the livelihood of Nepali girls.
Now that I think about it, maybe the sun rays that afternoon were somehow reflecting the deep, fulfilling sentiment in my heart of what it felt like to pay it forward. That I was the one beaming, never imagining the thought of having lived through a day like that, in one of the most exciting cities I’ve ever visited. Indeed, this was one of many memorable days in Kathmandu, Nepal.🇳🇵
