To find the courage to be vulnerable, to lean in to the feelings we don’t understand, and frankly, don't want to feel, as difficult as it may be, opens the door to the unimaginable.
Like the strands of a silk-spun web drizzled with morning dew, each droplet is a precious gem, one tied to the next. A majestic string of pearls, and a metaphor for the journey of life.
If I were to express one thing I’ve learned to be true, it is this. Be courageous, and the universe shall deliver.
I was recently introduced to “Stutz” (2022), a Netflix documentary film created by actor Jonah Hill. This film was the best gift I could have ever received. To the one who was kind enough to send it my way, I will forever be grateful.
This profound film not only makes its mark on the human condition, but its power to stir the soul, to exhilarate, and to impact is truly remarkable.
Hill’s brilliant storytelling about his therapist, Dr. Phil Stutz, Psychiatrist, their candid discussions as doctor and patient, and the sweet friendship that formed in the process is absolutely endearing. It is told so thoughtfully, so tenderly, and so lovingly. As the story unfolds, it reveals one poignant layer after another, even up to the very end. The more I watched, the more I fell in love.
It is healing, connecting, and so full of meaning. It pulls at your heart, and ignites it. It speaks gently, but in volumes. It’s something to have and to hold, and to come back to again and again. Like a great book, I did not want it to end.
Dr. Stutz, you are a gifted man and a legend, and Mr. Hill, truly a job well done. This is a masterpiece. Thank you for bravely sharing this with the world.
